Athletes and young people sweat a lot. It is something that is natural for them since their systems are reacting to the dictates of their adrenal or pituitary glands. However, there are millions of people all over the world who are aged between 13 and 62 but are not leading extremely active lifestyles who are bothered by the problem of sweating too much. Excessive sweating is that bothers roughly 2.5 percent of the population all over the world every single day.

But thinking about it, what could be the causes of excessive sweating and can we do something about it?

We've all heard of the adage "you are what you eat", well in the problem of hyperhidrosis this could not be more true. Sweat is one of the clever ways that the body naturally flushes out unwanted substances and chemicals that we take in. It's a way for our systems to cleanse and detoxify itself and ensure that the body is running like a well oiled machine each and every day. Eating foods rich in fat, preservatives, sugars, caffeine and other artificial additives and chemicals do nothing to help the problem of excessive sweating.

An improper diet and poor eating habits are in fact one of the top causes of excessive sweating in most people. Many don't realize this,but the more bad stuff we put in our bodies means that our systems have to work overtime in order to flush them out. It is no cause for wonder why the excretory system is producing buckets and buckets of sweat just to try to rid itself of harmful food substances.

So What Foods Should You Not Eat Much Of?

What goes in must always come out. So if you are bothered by excessive sweating and have realized that your diet is culprit, here are some types of food that you must lessen your intake of. Spicy foods are of course on top of the list, they naturally cause the sweat glands to go on mad max mode in an effort to regulate the body's temperature. If you're really fond of spicy food you might want to tone down the chili and curry a notch and save yourself from the embarrassment of having sweat stains all over your shirt.

That being said, it would also be wise to cut down on processed foods or preserved goodies. Salts and chemicals used in the preparation or packaging of these foods are also harmful to your body. You would be sweating a lot just to eliminate this from your system, which would again make your problem of excessive sweating more pronounced. If you want to stop the problem of hyperhidrosis the most important thing that you can do is be conscious of the kinds of food you eat.
