Many options exist for how to cure excessive sweat. Most commonly a problem of the hands, severe sweating can also plague armpits, the face, and feet. Hyperhidrosis is the term used to describe any form of excessive sweating. Treatments for this condition include iontophoresis, antiperspirants, botulinum toxin injections, and medication. Both apocrine and eccrine glands are stimulated to reduce sweat production with the application of antiperspirants. In high concentrations this ingredient can improve profuse sweating.

One option of a stronger product contains twenty percent aluminum chloride in anhydrous ethyl alcohol. Certain types of hyperhidrosis are more improved with its use than others. Another medical grade antiperspirant contains tannic acid, ethanol, and formalin. But this combination has less of an effect and can cause allergic reactions.

These include low heart rate, low blood pressure, and tiredness. An additional option is the use of herbal medications if other forms are ineffective. But these vary in results.

Injections with botulinum toxin blocks nerve transmission. Therefore, sweat glands cannot be stimulated. This procedure works best under the arms. Multiple injections are necessary, which can be painful. They also need to be repeated every four or six months. Treatments are pricey. Temporary paralysis of surrounding muscles sometimes takes place.

Excessive sweating symptoms can be reduced or eliminated with several treatments. This include toxin injection, electrical current, medications and extra strength antiperspirants.
