Finding Natural Health Cures for Illnesses in Your Kitchen - Health - Alternative Medicine

If you are like the rest of us, when you get sick, the first place you visit is probably the pharmacy aisle at your local drug or grocery store. As soon as people feel even a tiny bit sick they seek out a box of drugs to help stifle their symptoms. What if you did not have to do this?

What if you had the remedies you needed to feel better right in your kitchen cabinets? What if you could help yourself feel better without having to leave the house? There are so many natural health ways to cure your ailments!

Peppers can go a long way toward helping you heal. Bell peppers are a great source of Vitamin C and chopping some up and putting them into your sauces and sandwiches can help you beef up your immune system so that it is ready to fight off cold and flu germs. Cayenne pepper is great for the sinuses as well. Cayenne pepper in tea or in other foods can help you breathe and can cause you to sweat which will help bring down a fever. A good way to help your body start the healing process is to eat some cayenne pepper, which will heat up your body and make it sweat, which is how the germs and toxins in your system are released. People have used ginger as a cure for the cold or flu for years. Thankfully ginger is something that most people have on hand-either in their spice cabinets or in some of the hot tea varieties that might be hanging out in the kitchen. If you're suffering from a cold or the flu adding some ginger to your food and drinks is a good idea. The antiviral compoun ds will go to work knocking the cold out of your system and helping you heal. If you are a tea drinker, just add some ginger tea into your regular rotation and could will do wonders for your immune system.

Learn to like steam. Save money and take a hot shower or bath instead of buying a bunch of sinus meds. Steam can relax your sinus passages which will aid your breathing. The water used to produce the steam will be hot which will help your muscles relax and help you get the rest you need to heal. If you aren't up for taking a full shower or bath, inhale some steam from a pot of steaming water by leaning over the face of the pot and putting a towel over your head. The steam is directed toward your face by the sides of the towel which also help keep the water from cooling too quickly. This will help relax your sinuses which will make it easier to clear them out when you blow your nose. Using herbal and natural health methods to get well is a great idea. Are you so desperate to not feel your symptoms that you'll fill your body with chemicals even though natural health methods work just as well? Don't reach for the drugs out of habit-choose a healthier method instead. Most impo rtantly, to give your natural healing methods time to work, you need to get lots of rest!
