Hyperhidrosis is the common medical term for excessive sweating. Although sweating is a normal way the body releases excess body fluid and salts and also the way it expels the toxins in the system, excessive sweating can be an indication that there is a malfunction in the sympathetic nervous system.

Medical research shows that an overproduction of the sweat glands in the body causes excessive sweating. There are several reasons that causes this ailment. Age is one factor of massive sweating causes. When a person reaches puberty, he or she is most likely to experience sweating due to some biological changes happening within their body. To some people these biological adjustments do not correct themselves as time moves on and the extensive sweating condition stays with them until adulthood.

Another of the excessive sweating causes may be due to the pre-existing medical conditions that you already have. Some people who have diabetes experience heavy sweating whenever they have dips in their blood sugar levels. They sweat profusely whenever the sugar level in their blood goes higher or lower than normal. One way to avoid this from happening is to control their diet and monitor their blood sugar levels to prevent excessive sweating and other diabetic symptoms.

Too much water and sugar intake is also excessive sweating causes. As mentioned earlier, the body can only tolerate so much water intake so it releases the excess amounts thru the skin pores. Eating too many sugary foods create the same effect so to avoid sweating too much you must cut back on your sugar consumption.

If you are involved in strenuous activities like sports, you are high and likely to experience excessive sweating. When your body is put under stress due to these activities, it tends to signal your brain that it needs more water. Water helps to replenish all the electrolytes you loose during a work out or a basketball game. So the person tends to drink more water than the usual. Again, the excess amount of water taken in is expelled from the body in the form of sweat.

It is evident that people tend to sweat heavier most likely prone to anxiety and stress. Excessive sweating can be triggered by the behavior of that person as well as the environment affecting his mental health. This condition is treated as a medical condition rather that mental disease. If these behaviors are not controlled then you have the tendency to sweat more than the normal.
