From here on out, I wanted to prove this theory and I did. I talked to every girl I could and whenever I could. I met girls in grocery stores, K-mart, gas stations, convenience stores, water parks, clubs and restaurants. The more I did this, the more confident I became and I got lots of dates too. I no longer was nervous and words just came out of my mouth. Humor worked well for me. Women seem to love humor.

Soon I had more dates than I had time for, believe it or not. It was true! They were not all models but they were attractive.

Here is a total unbelievable event...I still till this day don't believe it. I asked a stripper out after a lap dance and she said, "YES". She was way out of my league but it was a fun date. She was a smoker anyway. It didn't make me nervous because I was so sure she would say "no thank you". And I didn't care.

I could now get a phone number or a date just about anywhere. I surprised myself many times. I proved it to myself over and over again. All those years of being shy and nervous were all about me and how I felt about myself. The only reason I could not get a date was because of me.

Dating is not about looks or money or bling (jewelry). It's about you and how you feel about yourself. Don't take dating too seriously or you will talk yourself out of meeting women. Just do it. The more practice you get, the better you become. If you tell yourself, "It doesn't matter if they say no", you won't be nervous. After all it's not the end of the world! There are plenty of fish in the sea.

I did get turned down a lot but I managed to get a date with about 40% of the women I met. That's not bad at all. At least I don't think so. If I met 3 women every week, I would end up with 4 dates for the month.

There is much more to learn. You can up your success rate to 70% - 80%.

Never Let 'em See You Sweat - Health - Dental Care

Do you remember those deodorant commercials in the 70s and 80s? I think it was Right Guard that coined the term "Never Let 'em See You Sweat". Well, I've been faced with a couple situations recently that had me depending on my Right Guard to get me through. The concept of those old commercials was to keep your cool when under pressure. Never let your colleagues or clients see you sweat under stressful situations. It happens to us ALL and it's a lesson in mastering our emotions, to say the least.

I mentioned last week that I recently spoke to about 300 hygienists at the Utah Dental Hygiene Association meeting. I have to tell you, we had some technology gremlins trying to take us down. Before my talk even started, I realized that my brand new laptop was not going to work with the projector. I had to use a loaner and my jump drive. That meant all the cool web links and video I'd implanted in my power point program wouldn't work. Then, right in the middle of my presentation, the entire ballroom went black. The power went out completely for what seemed like an eternity (it was probably 2 minutes max). While I was sweating on the inside, the reality was that the audience never missed those web links or knew that we had to change computers because the content remained the same and we just kept on trucking.

Whether you're speaking to 1 or 100, these hiccups happen to us all from time to time and they happen in your clinical practice too. Just the other day, I experienced a situation where an innocent error was made in scheduling a patient's hygiene appointment. The patient arrived at a time different than what was on the schedule. Needless to say, it turned into a 'learning experience' for everyone, me included. See, this was the perfect opportunity to shine in the face of a challenge so the patient never knew of the error OR fall into all the reasons why it had happened and allow the patient to get caught up in the stress of the situation.

Managing these situations may make us sweat but the beauty is that our patients never need to know it! Here are few situations and how to handle them with grace.

Patient shows up late- Greet them with concern and relief that they are ok. You control the course of the appointment (and your day) by saying "I'm so glad you made it. Of course we'll see you and we'll do as much as we can in the time left in your appointment". Whether it's 45 minutes or 15, we can accomplish something.

Patient shows up at the wrong time- Cheerfully great them and, before telling them THEY messed up, explore all opportunities to care for them now. Then you can say "We'll be happy to take care of you in just a few minutes". This is an opportunity for the entire team to step up and be massively flexible! Then take a moment to determine what happened and how you can prevent the problem in the future. The computers go down in the middle of charting -rather than saying "Darn, my computer just died. We've been begging doctor to get new computers but the economy is just killing us"(ugh!), just pull out a piece of paper and keep on going. You can always add the data to the computer chart later and the patient will never know the difference. Take a "Never Let 'em See You Sweat" approach and you'll nurture patients that have ulitmate confidence in you. And we all know how great that feels...

There a quite a few very good reasons why some people suffer from excessive or profuse sweating. If you suffer from excessive sweating or profuse sweating, then you suffer from a condition known as hyperhidrosis. And this condition can be either - good, bad, or just downright ugly. The worst part of this condition is that you probably can't help having hyperhidrosis, but you can do something to alleviate it.

The Good - Sweating, profuse or not, should be used as a positive. If you don't sweat then you may be already dead. No, seriously though, you sweat so that your body doesn't overheat. It is a normal, spontaneous function of your body. Your profuse sweating could be a reaction to something as simple as wearing too many clothes for the local environment you are in, or more seriously, it could be hereditary.

You have to realize that some people do, and will, always sweat more than others do. By doing either physical labor or just some strenuous exercise, your profuse sweating is produced so that your body has the opportunity to cool down. To assist in this process, you do need to make sure that your hydration level is maintained properly, that is, drink lots of fluids, and you should be okay. And, as a bonus, any toxins excreted in your sweat will only help to increase the overall condition of your physical health.

The Bad - Your condition of profuse sweating, or excessive sweating, could be brought on by something more serious like an infection. These could range anywhere from -* pneumonia; through to* endocarditis.These conditions can be quite serious and you will require immediate medical attention. Other instances of your profuse sweating condition could be symptons of perhaps a stroke or even a heart attack. You should never ignore these warnings if you feel you suffer from these symptoms. See your doctor pronto.

The Downright Ugly - Do you enjoy having dark sweat stains showing under your arms? With it carries implications of either nervousness or even uncleanliness. It is not a good look or something that is endearing to your partner. If you do just happen to be unclean, try showering more than once a week! If you happen to be a nervous person then you probably will have excessive underarm sweating as a symptom of the condition that you suffer from.

If you do suffer from nervousness, then you may be suffering from a social disorder, or an anxiety disorder. These disorders could very well contribute to your profuse sweating, and you may need to seek professional assistance to work through your social anxieties. There is no shame in seeking assistance to cure yourself.

Don't Let Them See You Sweat. - Self Help - Advice

That's easy to say if you're not sweating!

A while back, there was a commercial for Axe Super Antiperspirant Deodorant, the one where the guy has sweat spraying from his armpits like a fire hose, that guy has nothing on me. When I perspire, I'm more like the people in the old Long John Silver commercial. One minute they're standing there perfectly dry and the next they're inundated with a tidal wave of water. I sweat so bad that a one time, I thought of having my name legally changed to Super Soaker.

In all seriousness though, having a perspiration problem like mine is no laughing matter.Starting in Junior High and progressing all the way to the present, my perspiration problem has been nothing but an annoyance and an embarrassment for me.

When I was in Junior and Senior High, I used to try and look cool like everyone else. Problem was, even the least amount of exertion would cause me to sweat right through my clothes. It was especially bad right after Gym. I mean you've been doing strenuous exercise for an hour and then you took a hot shower. Everyone else was fine. I, on the other hand, was still sweating two or three hours later. It was so bad, I transferred to a 6th hour gym so that it would be the last class I took before school let out. That way no one would see me as I left school looking like I'd just been hosed down.

When I got into the workforce it didn't get any better.

The first jobs I got out of high school were labor intensive. I was fortunate enough to have the kind of jobs where I didn't come into contact with a lot of people. At some places, I worked in the back room or I worked late at night when everyone else had left. After I graduated from college things got tougher for me. I had desk jobs in a corporate environment. I tried very hard to stay calm and not stress out because if I did, I had sweat stains from my armpits down to my waistline.

On one occasion, I was asked to move computer equipment from one building to another. I was wearing slacks and a shirt. By the time I got done moving all that equipment, I had soaked my shirt, I mean wet all over, and even had sweat stains on the waistband of my slacks. A couple of really cute girls that was always trying to impress looked at me with sweat running into my eyes and my hair plastered down and asked if I was all right or was something wrong with me. I guess the way I looked, they thought I would keel over or something.

I really made an impression with them that day. The wrong impression!

Well, now I'm married with a house and yard which of course needs to be taken care of. On days when I know I need to mow the yard or some other such activity, I put on some really old clothes. I go out and do the chores. I then come inside and peel off my dripping wet clothes, take a shower and put clean, fresh clothes on.

Speaking of the shower, when I take a shower in the morning, I have to run a fan in the bathroom. As soon as I get out, I start to dry off with a towel and stand directly in front of the fan. After I finish in the bathroom, I walk into the bedroom, turn on another fan and stand in front of it until I am completely dry. This is a huge waste of time. It doesn't always work either. Sometimes, I still sweat through my shirt in the car on the way to work.

My wife is the love of my life but there have been times when I know I embarrassed her. We would get all dressed up for a night on the town. Sometimes there was a live band at the place we would go. We would get up and start dancing. It wouldn't be long before sweat is just pouring off of me. After a couple of instances like that and I gave up dancing.

Pretty depressing story, huh? It has a happy ending though. I finally found something that helped me stop sweating so bad. It worked for me, maybe it will work for you.

Ashtanga Yoga ? Is it right for you? - Health

Ashtanga Yoga is the type of yoga which was developed and founded by K. Pattabhi Jois. This type of yoga is known as the Eight Limb Yoga which has revolved in Pattanjali's enormous idea. It presented that the path of purification is made up of the eight spiritual practices.The first four limbs that represent Ashtanga Yoga are - yama, niyama, Asana and the Pranayama. These are considered cleansing practices which are externally correctable. The other set of limbs which are the - pratyahara, dhyana, dharana are the internal practies.These limbs can only be corrected by the proper application of the Ashtanga Yoga method. This type of yoga method is quite dangerous to the mind.K. Pattabhi Jois said that practicing these Eight Limbs and also its sub-limbs of the external practices which include the niyama and yama is not possible. In doing so, the body should be strong so that it can perform the practices well enough. If the body is weak, and the sense organs are not functionin g well, practicing will never be useful at all.This is a philosophy that K. Pattabhi Jois has applied, this is important to understand so that in doing the practice, you are sure that the body will improve and the keep it stronger and healthier.Vinsaya and Tristhana is practiced in Ashtanga Yoga.The Vinsaya is a style that makes Ashtanga and its principles distinct from the others. Vinsaya means the movement and breathing which is used for the internal cleansing process. Each movement done is accompanied by only one breath. Sweat is the most important product of Vinsaya. When you produce sweat, it only means that you are successfully applying the practice. When you perform the Asanas, the body creates heat which causes your blood to boil and excrete the toxins outside of your body. The toxins are found in your sweat. So the more sweat you create, the more toxins are released.The poses are used to fully develop the strength and health of the body. The series of practices make this possible. There are three postures used in Ashtaga Yoga.The three are classified on different levels.The first is the Primary Series which aims on aligning the body and also detoxifying it.The second is the Intermediate Series opening and cleaning the energy channels which comes to the process of purifying the Nervous System.The last series would be the Advanced Series from A to D. in this series, the grace and strength is measured.The Tristhana is another yoga principle which represents the union of the three places of action and attention. First is the posture, second is the breathing technique ad last is the Dristhi of the Looking Place. All these three should work altogether to perform a function.Breathing techniques are simultaneous and synchronized. It is important to make a single breath for one movement. Ujjayi Breathing is the Yoga Breathing Technique used in the application of Ashtanga Yoga. Applying this technique must be prolonged after every practice. What you need to master is holding your pose longer at the same time hold your breath. This is an amazing breathing exercise that will increase your internal fire and will strengthen the Nervous System.Both Ashtanga and Tristhana deal with the series of Dristhi.
